CBC Canada’s Search Engine

CBC Radio’s new collaborative public radio show Search Engine is an “open source to all the surprising and significant ways the Internet is transforming our world.” It’s also the first radio podcast show to try and answer the question “What does the web sound like?” by involving the Internet-wide public in the actual production and creation of the show. Its inagaural broadcast includes a feature called “Copy Fight” in which Cory Doctorow examines digital rights, privacy and free expression.

It also looks at Australian Prime Minister John Howard’s AU$84m unsuccessful attempt at implementing a web censorship system which was cracked by a 16-year-old after only half an hour of trying. Thankfully, instead of just throwing him in jail like you might expect from such a government, they’re actually working with him to make the system better.
